exit through the gift shop, the film from banksy, recently opened in many of the major markets here in the us. in support of the film, the artist has been traveling across the country putting up some new pieces. new york was the final stop on the tour and also the one city who’s inhabitants destroyed the pieces almost immediately.
i’ve been a bit remiss in updating the blog, many apologies. if there’s anything to be taken from it, it’s that i’ve been pretty busy with outside work. i’ve been a bit better with updating my tumblr/moblog which can been found at: http://samhorine.tumblr.com/ and now on to the street fashion’s inside and out at the tents of bryant park here in nyc.
there are many parts of queens that most new yorkers will never visit unless they live there or are perhaps passing through on an unusual errand. a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine heard about an old tunnel in astoria from the 1800’s – curiosity got the best of me and so, one cold sunday, i headed over to check it out. turns out there wasn’t much to see as the tunnel only extended about 200 feet before our passage was blocked by a heavy steel door. defeated by not done, we drove around college point and checked out some odd corners that seemed about as far from new york city proper as humanly possibly.
recently picked up the canon 85mm f/1.8 – i had borrowed one from jake a few months back and fallen in love – sharp, fast, and a good length for portraits and street work.
got the opportunity to hang with alex meixner and the girls of wasabassco last week at the bell house.
checked out an old abandonment in south brooklyn several weeks ago – had heard about this place a couple of years ago when it was apparently wide open, however each time i went out to check it out it, it had been sealed up tightly. this time, for what seemed like the first time in a about 4 years it was open.
