industrial dusk

on monday i stopped by the bell house to drop off shots from last friday night’s midnight special. afterward with some time to kill, i wandered around 3rd street and shot a few shots as the sun set.

queens

there are many parts of queens that most new yorkers will never visit unless they live there or are perhaps passing through on an unusual errand. a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine heard about an old tunnel in astoria from the 1800’s – curiosity got the best of me and so, one cold sunday, i headed over to check it out. turns out there wasn’t much to see as the tunnel only extended about 200 feet before our passage was blocked by a heavy steel door. defeated by not done, we drove around college point and checked out some odd corners that seemed about as far from new york city proper as humanly possibly.

wedding crashers

on saturday brooklyn based teamed up the bell house to throw down with the 1st annual wedding crashers wedding fair. robin and i had been offered a spot on the guest list by freind and wedding photographer daniel krieger. although we’re fairly far along in planning our upcoming wedding there were a few people robin wanted to see and then there was the free food + free booze. as a cherry on top, metromix asked me if i would take a few photos for a web gallery. they didn’t end up running all of the photos i sent in, so i put them all together in a nice contact sheet style package. click on the above image to enlarge.

halifax grain terminal

on past trips to halifax, we had stayed right up the street from this grain terminal. this time we were on the other side of the city in the suburb of bedford. however, on a particularly nice afternoon we took a quick drive over to point pleasant park which sits adjacent to the shipping port and the grain terminal – after walking around the park for a couple of hours i stopped by to see what had changed in the past two years. from the looks of it, not much.
